The filter medium is fabricated such that it removes airborne particles from air passing through the filter medium. The filter medium includes two layers; the first layer is a loose structure for trapping larger particles, the second layer is denser than the first layer for trapping smaller particles.
The material of the second layer is coated with an elastomeric latex emulsion tackifier which is non drying. The tackifier provides a tacky, sticky film on the material such that the particles stick to the second layer. Further, the tackifier is non-drying such that it remains sticky for the lifetime of the filter medium.
